Brendan Fraser is back, as is Ke Huy Quan. So who else should we be able to get back? After years of being forgotten, Brendan Fraser, Ke Huy Quan and Ke Huy Quan made major comebacks with
The Whale, and Everything Everywhere At Once. We thought it would be fun, in light of their Oscar nominations, to create a list of other stars that we think deserve a comeback. The Whale
and
. Her work is always outstanding and her online presence during the pandemic was refreshing. Many were kept positive by her Aloha Friday live posts. She is a joy to be around and a pleasure to meet. There has been a lot of buzz online about her Relic Hunter series being relaunched and her return to our screens. Fans of the show, as well as fans of Wayne’s World10, and Tia’s fans in general, loved seeing her in Easter Saturday10 and Showdown at Manila10 respectively. So a return with a lead role for her seems like a natural step.
Rick Moranis
Spotted recently in a commercial, Moranis was supposed to be retired, but interviews seem to indicate that he may be open to some work in front of the camera, so perhaps it’s a question of the right part coming along for him. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, he was the only old school actor whose character did not even get a mention. It would have been so easy to name-drop Louis Tully. Even if Moranis did not accept the role, they could have added Tully’s name to the Zeddemore’s business staff or mentioned him at one point. Most fans would love to have him in the next Ghostbusters – even in a small part. We would all love to see him in a major, prominent role, where he can shine and lead, possibly leading to an award. His work was always funny and touching, even though it was supposed to be silly. He was a role model for a whole generation and they want him back.
Staci Keanan
A 1990s television star and one of many teens in Step By Step10, Keanan was once a household name. Before Step By Step she was on My Two Dads10 and Going places. Staci has been almost completely absent from the screen since 2017, and was scarce even before that. Staci hasn’t been seen much lately, despite her peers having found jobs making holiday movies, horror/scifi films, and family films. Some of her fans want her back and she has some fun films on her resume including the Gregg Araki movie Nowhere which had a stellar cast who are all still active or coming back lately, so why not Keanan as well?
Fairuza balk
Another case where she’s not done but has made some voice work. Balk was a beloved figure in the 1990s, and was an idol for many goth girls back then. These goth girls are now happy weird adults and would love to see Balk again. She was and is an icon. She’s always great with fans and her convention appearances have been fun. She is a likely candidate to return to horror. Maybe she could even join a major horror series. It seems like she’s due for another big movie in this genre. Fans would love it if she was the lead in a big budget film with several sequels. Her style and personality would be a welcome change for leading ladies. Her 10The Craft10 co-stars, Rachel True and Neve Campbell, have been doing well in recent times. It would be a great film to see them together and bring Robin Tunney, who is also due for a return.
Rider Strong
Rider Strong is another case where the actor has kept working, with lots of voice work and guest appearances, such as a part on the Girl Meets World reboot of Boy Meets World. Despite this, Strong has not been in any major films and it would be great to see him in some horror parts, perhaps even some body horror. His work in Cabin Fever was interesting and most teen girls of the 1990s remember him fondly for his comedic timing, his knack for drama in less serious settings (honestly, go rewatch Boy Meets World with grown-up eyes, his work is great), and he was always all over those magazines like Bop and Tiger beat along with Devon Sawa who is seeing a serious resurgence in his career in the last few years with some fantastic action and horror films as well as in the Chucky television series.
Officially, there are many more entertainers who would be more than happy to make comebacks. We’re likely to forget some of them in this tour into the past entertainment stars and who we’d like to see back on our screens. Some of these stars are already making comebacks so we deliberately left them out. We’re sure we’re forgetting a lot, so please let us know in the comments. Who would you add? JTT, Sasha Mitchell, Kary Parsons, Jordan Ladd, Stuart Townsend? Film business is unpredictable. Many people fall into the shadows for various reasons, while others leave the industry. But their fans will never forget them.
