MSc (pre-registration) physiotherapy,
My passion for Neuro-rehabilitation started in 1999 when I worked as an occupational therapy assistant at the Battle Hospital in Reading. Whilst working as an assistant, I embarked on a four year undergraduate degree graduating from Oxford Brookes University with a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy (OT). After which, I gained clinical experience working in different departments within physical health care and mental health services.
In 2009 I undertook the MSc (pre-registration) physiotherapy training at Southampton University, completing a qualitative research project, alongside a randomised controlled trail. This research has since been published in the Clinical Rehabilitation Journal. After qualifying as a physio, I specialised in neuro and have worked on an acute stroke unit and currently work in neuro outpatients at the RBH. I have also worked for Headway, a community based neuro rehab team in Bristol, and in private practice.
I have undertaken a number of post-graduate physio and OT courses including the Basic Bobath course, APPI pilates modules, foundation and advanced hydrotherapy, postural management, fatigue management, and the Sarah Key Method which treats spinal pain and dysfunction. These courses have broadened my skills enabling me to treat people with a wide range of conditions including complex neurological disability.
