I am the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist and Managing Director of The Howard Clinic. I provide both Consultancy support and training for my clinical team to ensure high standards of patient care and clinical expertise.I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1985 and remain as passionate and enthusiastic about my profession as I was 30 years ago. I feel privileged to enjoy a fabulous profession. I trained at St Mary’s Hospital, London, graduating in 1985 and worked in the NHS for around 10 years. I completed junior and senior rotational posts in several hospitals in London, before deciding to gain specialist experience in Neurology. I went on to work at The National Hospital For Neurology and Neurosurgery in 1987 and then gained a Superintendent post at Battle Hospital, Reading, heading up the Neurological Rehabilitation and hydrotherapy Unit. In 1991 I moved to The Royal Berkshire Hospital where I was Superintendent Physiotherapist in charge of Acute Medicine and Surgery/Neurology wards, which enabled me to further expand my clinical expertise. I moved to private practice in 1993 and broadened my skills in treating soft tissue and joint conditions before establishing The Howard Clinic in January 2006. I have since trained in Acupuncture, and Tui Na (Chinese medical massage) both enabling me to treat a huge range of conditions and apply a more holistic approach where necessary. I am also an Accredited Practitioner of the Sarah Key Method, which is of enormous benefit treating and rehabilitating many types of back pain from simple to complex and post surgical rehabilitation. Having worked in the Reading & Wokingham areas for many years I have established strong links with many consultant specialists whom I am able to recommend and refer patients to. I am immensely proud to have such a great team to work with, and our diverse skill mix optimises recovery from injuries and illness. >> BACK TO MEET THE TEAM |
