I am a Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in Paediatrics. I qualified in 1982, from The London Hospital and have over 30 years specialist paediatric experience. I worked initially in London in both acute and community settings treating children in their homes nurseries and schools as well as in hospital. I moved to Reading in 1997 to work at The Royal Berkshire Hospital as a Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist treating children with complex neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. I have experience in treating children with cerebral palsy, as well as other neurological conditions and developmental delay, musculoskeletal conditions such as clubfeet, foot and ankle problems, Erbs palsy and Perthes disease.
I have completed a number of post-graduate courses including the Bobath Paediatric Course and a Halliwick Hydrotherapy Course. I gained a Masters degree in the Management of Childhood Disability from Southampton University in 2003 and completed my PhD in October 2008 at Queen Mary, University of London having undertaken a research trial looking at improving hand function in children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. I continue to enjoy learning and attend the annual National Conference for paediatric physiotherapists.
I am a Member of the National Committee of the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists and sit on the Research and Education Committee. I am also a part-time lecturer on the Physiotherapy Degree Course at Coventry University.
I enjoy treating children and working with their parents and carers to enable them to reach their potential. I am looking forward to working with the team at the Howard Clinic treating children and joining the hydrotherapy sessions.
